7 seconds

The multitudes of minds suspended in a lattice, each one alone and discreet and yet connected to the others in a vast crystal of consciousness stretching forwards and back through time. Each person re-creating over and over a flawed vision of the world in its entirety, each sole alone in a bubble, ignorant and yet cheek by jowl hard up against the soles of the others blissfully unaware of the true reality of existence. Each thought repeated countless times simultaneously by like minded soles at this instant and back in a line thought points in time. Each of us living our lives through a 7 second window (the length of time a thought exists in a human mind), seven seconds of consciousness moving seamlessly forwards like the head of a videotape recorder tracing over the surface of a video cassette towards a point where the tape runs out. Imagine if you may that you and I cast off the chains of existence and we climb above the multitude, high high above to view it all ..in all its imagined and terrifying reality. Now imagine that like some omnipotent video editor of life we freeze a 7 second moment in time, a single point frozen through the thoughts and lives of it all, looping repeatedly 7 seconds, then seven seconds. Imaging looking down and feeling through the thoughts and desires, the horror and happiness, the ecstasy and the despair through the monotony and the mundane all in this 7 second instant. A 7 second tapestry of existence.
